 How to get to Oroville - Oroville, Washington, is located on U.S. Highway 97, just 4 miles south of the Canadian Border or 2 1/2 hours north of Wenatchee. We are east of Vancouver B.C., Canada, some 4 1/2 hours on BC Highway 3 and south of Penticton, BC about 1 hour on Highway 97. We are in the heart of North Central Washington State, some 4 1/2 hours west of Spokane and 5 1/2 hours northeast of Seattle. For a time frame, we are 8 hours from Portland, Oregon. The closest commercial air service is Weantchee, Spokane or Seattle in the US and Pentiction (1 hour north) and Kelowna (2 hours north) in Canada. The closest commercail bus service is out of Omak, 42 miles south on US Highway 97.

 Oroville History - Oroville celebrated the Centennial of its Incorporation, 1908 - 2008. April 14, 2008, the flag pole that stood on the U.S. side at the Border was dedicated at the historic Customs House in downtown Oroville. July 26, 2008 - Dorothy C. Scott. 1st Annual Airport Day, took a look back at our history in avaiation. August 2, 2008 - Centennial Parade on Main Street. Dedication of Centennial Park on Main Street with birthday cake and honored speakers.

 Tours of Okanogan County - In the north part of the County we have two (2) driving tour options. The Okanogan Highland Loop is about four (4) hours long and goes to the east-northeast partly into Republic and Ferry County. That drive will also take you to Molson and the Molson Muesum.

The Many Lakes Loop exends west and south of Oroville through Nighthawk, Palmer Lake, Loomis and south through the Sinlahiken Wildlife Area to Conconnuly. Maps of both Loops are available at various Visitor Information Centers.

 Okanogan Valley Weather & Ecology - Oroville is actually in a high desert region. We average between 9 and 10 inches of precipitation per year. Agriculture is still very strong growing apples, pears, apricots, wine grapes, etc. with the assistance of irrigation. Recreation is also strong with many lakes to fish and other water recreational activities.  Economic Highlights: As stated above, agriculture is still king in and around Oroville. We have three wood product related businesses located here, which is enhanced by a Heavy Haul Corrider from the Canadain Border to these buisnesses.The construction industry took off in 2006 as a result of three (3) major condominium projects, the largest of which is Veranda Beach on the east side of Lake Osoyoos.

Two others, Sandalia and Desert Breeze are under construction as well.

We are in the heart if the Via 97 International Corridor, the northern gateway to the Okanogan Trails Scenic Byway, near the Coulee Corridor US Scenic Byway, on the Pacific Northwest Trail and the Greater Columbia Water Trail.
